IATF 16949: 2016 is the international standard for quality management systems for the automotive industry.
It is based on the ISO 9001 standard, while incorporating specific requirements of customers in the automotive sector.

The main requirements are:
- Improving the quality of products and processes
- Added confidence for global sourcing
- Reallocation of supplier resources to quality improvement
- Common approach of the quality system in the supply chain for the development and coherence of suppliers / subcontractors
- Reduction of several third-party registrations
